About

Salty Science was founded by Connie Sullivan, a marine biologist who has studied in many salty locations and in many salty subjects. My passions lie in getting other people as stoked about the ocean as I am. As an undergrad, I studied secondary education; however, at the urging of a good mentor, I decided to go and live life before returning to the education field. And live it up I did!

I was able to participate in Northeastern University’s East West/ Three Seas Marine Biology Program (which took me to Washington, Jamaica, and Massachusetts), work as a SURE Education Intern at the University of Maine’s Darling Marine Center, complete an MS in Marine Science at William and Mary’s Virginia Institute of Marine Science, and complete a Masters of Marine Affairs at the University of Washington’s School of Marine and Environmental Affairs.

I am so lucky that I have been able to experience the marine environment in so many different places and in so many different ways – under water, off of a boat, and best of all – with other enthusiastic ocean lovers!

My favorite sea critter is the sea cucumber, followed closely by cephalopods. When I’m not hovering over a tidepool or on the water, you can find me on a horse or hanging with my dog in the woods.
